How did I choose these three healthy eating plans for weight loss?
These three eating plans for weight loss were chosen because they are all healthy, sustainable and flexible. They are plans that you can stay on for life and you don’t have to say goodbye to treats forever, not even while you are trying to lose weight.
I went to Weight Watchers for two and a half years and loved it; you can either attend meetings or join Weight Watchers online. You can read about the Three most important things I learned at Weight Watchers here.
I started to follow The Gabriel diet as a maintenance diet because I didn’t want to stay on a low fat diet. I did have success with it for several months and it is also an excellent diet. You can purchase Jon Gabriel’s book, as well as sign up for retreats and personal coaching.
I purchased and reviewed the third diet, Isabelle’s The Diet solution because I was looking for an online diet that was extremely affordable (there is a one-off payment), and a weight loss plan that fitted in with my guides for healthy eating plans for weight loss. You receive a number of manuals and I also purchased Super Soups with Isabelle which is great for summer and winter soups.
One of the exceptional features of all of these healthy eating plans for weight loss is that Weight Watchers, Jon Gabriel and Isabelle de Los Rios are all passionate about helping you to lose weight. If you are looking for a healthy weight loss plan, then each of these is perfect. They can all be tailored to suit your own dietary needs, requirements and preferences. If you don’t want to read three weight loss reviews, you can read the pros and cons at the end of each review which gives you a good overview of each plan.
Garfield’s say on diets
In the words of Garfield the famous, chubby, grouchy, lovable cat (he’s my absolute favorite cartoon character), “d-i-e-t is D-I-E with a T!” Diet implies being hungry and grumpy, eating lettuce leaves with a couple of crackers for lunch and participating in endless exercise. Well healthy eating plans for weight loss have come a long way since I embarked on my first diet as a teenager. The best weight loss plans are no longer considered a temporary measure to lose weight, but as a way to make permanent healthy lifestyle changes, that can be maintained after the losing weight period. This means that you don’t have to give up the treats that you love, but instead you learn how to incorporate them into a healthy diet plan which enables you to maintain your weight.
We all love foods that are high in fats and sugars (Garfield loves lasagne and cookies), but once you change your eating patterns to healthier, unprocessed foods, you will find that your taste buds change and you will no longer crave these foods, even to the point of not wanting them at all. I know that probably sounds impossible at the moment, but take it from an x-chocoholic who used to eat a family bar of chocolate every day! After more than two and a half years of healthy eating, I now no longer crave chocolate and can go weeks (OK maybe days) without eating it at all. It is definitely possible to quit your sugar addiction.
Each of the healthy eating plans for weight loss reviewed on this site were chosen because they are based on the latest research and most up to date scientific principles. Each program is not just a weight loss plan, but a lifestyle that will help you lose weight and keep it off for ever. They will educate you and help you to make healthy and simple changes that will last a life time. The most important thing is to chose one of the programs and get started today. Just do it!
Be kind to yourself
Be kind to yourself on your weight loss journey, don’t expect to start today and be perfect. Accept that you are most likely never going to be “perfect” and that’s OK. One of the hardest things for me to overcome was the psychological aspect of dieting, and the mindset that I had “broken” my diet if I had a biscuit or a piece of cake, which would then send me into an eating frenzy because, “I was never going to lose weight”, never mind that I had already lost 5 kilograms (11 lbs). Or if I “broke” my diet today, then I wouldn’t be able to “start again” until next Monday (always a good day to start a diet)! This is life, if you do go “off the rails” every now and again, or even for several days or weeks at a time, the most important thing is that somewhere along the way you get back on track. Not only to lose weight or maintain weight, but also to keep you feeling energetic and vital. A junky diet just makes you feel tired and lethargic.
Do you have to make changes on any of these healthy eating plans for weight loss? Sure you do, for things to change, things have to change. But, you don’t have to make all of the changes in the first week. Just make changes one at a time as you learn and as you feel that you can incorporate them in to your lifestyle. Make small changes such as adding in extra incidental exercise, replacing soft drink with water or adding more salads and vegetables at lunch and dinner time. There are lots of small changes that you can make to get you started and help your progress.
How much weight should I lose each week?
On all of these healthy eating plans for weight loss you should aim to lose 0.5-1 kg (1-2.2 Ibs) per week although this could vary on The Gabriel Diet. If you have a lot of weight to lose, understand that it is going to take you months and possibly even a couple of years to lose it to get to your healthy weight. It took me 10 months to loose 12 kilograms (26 lbs), but I made a commitment that I was going to lose the weight and worked through the set backs. If you go off track, focus on how far you have already come, own it and get back on track.
What is the best way to lose weight?
The best way to lose weight is any way that works for you. Just choose one of these healthy eating plans for weight loss and get started today, because today is the best day to start the rest of your life.
